The results conference of the consulting research project "Research on the Development Strategy of Recycling Technology for Waste Chemical Fiber Textile Resources" by the Chinese Academy of Engineering was recently held in Beijing. Based on a deep review and comparison of the current situation and development trends of recycling technology for waste chemical fiber textile resources at home and abroad, the research report proposed the key tasks of recycling technology for waste chemical fiber textile resources in China and clarified the development direction of the entire industry chain technology system.
China is a major producer and user of synthetic fibers in the world. In 2016, the total production of synthetic fibers reached 49.44 million tons, accounting for 69.4% of the global total. The total processing volume of textile fibers was 54.2 million tons, of which synthetic fibers accounted for 84.23%, occupying a dominant position. Along with the rapid development of the industry and the surge in consumption, the issue of disposing of waste chemical fiber textiles has also emerged. It is expected that by the end of the 13th Five Year Plan period, the production of waste chemical fiber textiles in China will reach nearly 200 million tons, but the recycling rate of textiles in China is less than 10%, which is significantly lower than that of developed countries.
Waste chemical fiber textiles are treated as garbage for simple disposal such as landfill or incineration, which not only seriously pollutes the environment but also causes significant resource waste. Seeking recycling and reuse has become an urgent need for the development of China's textile industry.
According to Jiang Shicheng, an academician of the CAE Member, in order to promote the sound development and comprehensive upgrading of China's chemical fiber recycling industry, the Chinese Academy of Engineering set up the consulting project of "Research on the Development Strategy of Recycling Technology of Waste Chemical Fiber Textile Resources" in 2017, led by academicians in the textile field, relying on Donghua University, and invited more than 40 people, including experts from relevant colleges and universities, representative enterprises, to participate in the research. After more than a year, a research report and recommendations from academicians were formed.
Chemical fiber recycling is an important direction in the new era of the chemical fiber industry, "said Wang Huaping, the Secretary General of the project. In the next 10 years, we will take" zero abandonment, clean low-carbon, efficient, high-quality and high-value "as the guidance, major scientific and technological projects as the starting point, and the construction of an independent innovation system combining" government, industry, academia, research and application "as the support. We will establish a * * * textile recycling research and engineering technology development platform, so that the recycling technology and innovation capabilities of key chemical fiber varieties such as polyester, polyamide, polypropylene, and polyphenylene sulfide in China can rank among the top in the world.
