Recycled polyester staple fiberWhen used for car seat fabrics, priority should be given to blending with polyester filament, cotton fiber, hemp fiber, etc. By complementing the properties of different fibers, the anti pilling and breathability of the fabric can be improved in a targeted manner, while also considering the wear resistance and comfort required for car seats.
1、 Selection and Enhancement of Core Blended Fibers
The blending of different fibers with recycled polyester staple fibers has different logic for improving "anti pilling" and "breathability", and the appropriate fibers need to be selected according to the performance requirements of the fabric:
1. Blended with polyester filament: improves anti pilling properties
Principle of Enhancement:
Recycled polyester staple fibers are relatively short in length (usually 38-51mm), and the fiber ends are easily exposed on the surface of the fabric. After friction, they are prone to tangling and forming hairballs; And the length of polyester filament can reach several kilometers, with no free fiber ends, which can reduce the source of hairballs.
The high strength and smooth surface of long fibers can enhance the stability of fabric structure, reduce the probability of slip and friction of short fibers, and further suppress the formation of hairballs.
Blended effect:
Anti pilling performance: When the blending ratio is controlled at "recycled polyester staple fiber 60% -80%+polyester filament 20% -40%", the anti pilling level of the fabric can be increased from level 3 of pure recycled polyester staple fiber to level 4-4.5 (according to GB/T 4802.1 standard), meeting the long-term wear resistance requirements of car seats.
Breathability: The hollow or irregular cross-section of polyester filament (such as trilobite or cross shape) can form more breathable channels within the fabric. Compared to pure recycled polyester short fiber fabric, the breathability is increased by 15% -20%, reducing the stuffiness of summer seats.
2. Blended with cotton fiber: Balancing breathability and anti pilling properties
Principle of Enhancement:
Cotton fiber has a natural porous structure and good moisture absorption, which can quickly absorb human sweat and evaporate, greatly improving the breathability and sweat absorption and drainage ability of the fabric, and compensating for the poor moisture absorption and easy stuffiness of recycled polyester short fibers.
The natural curling and softness characteristics of cotton fibers can improve the rigidity of recycled polyester staple fibers, reduce the friction coefficient between fibers, and at the same time, the strong holding force between cotton fibers and polyester fibers can reduce the risk of slip and pilling of staple fibers.
Blended effect:
Breathability: When the blend ratio is "recycled polyester staple fiber 50% -70%+cotton fiber 30% -50%", the fabric's breathability can reach 800-1200mm/s (according to GB/T 5453 standard), far higher than pure recycled polyester staple fiber fabric (about 500-700mm/s), and the comfort is close to pure cotton fabric.
Anti pilling performance: Although the addition of cotton fibers does not significantly improve the pilling performance compared to polyester filament, by reasonably controlling the blending ratio (cotton fibers not exceeding 50%), the anti pilling level of the fabric can be maintained at 3.5-4, while avoiding the problems of wrinkles and wear on pure cotton fabrics.
3. Blended with hemp fibers (flax, ramie, etc.): enhances breathability and structural stability
Principle of Enhancement:
Hemp fiber has a unique hollow tubular structure, with a breathability 1.5-2 times that of cotton fiber. It also has strong moisture absorption and fast evaporation, which can quickly dissipate heat and sweat between the fabric and the human body. It is one of the natural fibers that enhances breathability.
The high strength and high modulus (strong rigidity) of hemp fiber can enhance the structural support of the fabric, reduce the stretching and entanglement of recycled polyester staple fibers during friction, assist in improving anti pilling properties, and enhance the wear resistance and wrinkle resistance of the fabric.
Blended effect:
Breathability: When the blending ratio is "recycled polyester staple fiber 70% -85%+hemp fiber 15% -30%", the fabric's breathability can reach 1200-1500mm/s, suitable for use in summer car seats or high-temperature areas, with significantly reduced stuffiness.
Anti pilling property: The rigid structure of hemp fiber can suppress the slip of short fibers, and the anti pilling level of the fabric can reach 3.5-4. At the same time, the natural texture of hemp fiber can enhance the visual texture of the seat fabric and enhance its aesthetic appeal.
4. Blended with wool fiber: Balancing breathability and high-end texture
Principle of Enhancement:
Wool fiber has good moisture absorption and breathability, which can regulate the humidity of the fabric and avoid stuffiness. At the same time, its natural scale structure can increase the adhesion between fibers, reduce the free and pilling of recycled polyester staple fibers.
Blended effect:
Breathability: When the blend ratio is "recycled polyester staple fiber 80% -90%+wool fiber 10% -20%", the fabric has better breathability and moisture absorption than pure recycled polyester staple fiber, and has a certain degree of warmth, suitable for all season seat fabrics.
Anti pilling property: The scale structure of wool fibers can enhance the friction between fibers and reduce pilling
2、 Key precautions for blending
Blended ratio control:Recycled polyester staple fiberThe proportion of recycled polyester should be maintained at over 50% to ensure the wear resistance and cost advantage of the fabric (the cost of recycled polyester is lower than that of natural fibers); The proportion of functional fibers (such as polyester filament and hemp fiber) needs to be adjusted according to core requirements, for example, if the anti pilling property is prioritized, the proportion of polyester filament should be increased, and if the breathability is prioritized, the proportion of hemp fiber should be increased.
Fiber fineness and length matching: It is recommended to choose a fineness of 1.5-3dtex and a length of 38-51mm for recycled polyester staple fibers. Blended fibers should be consistent with it (such as polyester filament fineness of 1.5-2dtex and cotton/linen fiber length of 30-40mm) to avoid uneven blending due to significant differences in fiber specifications, which can affect pilling resistance and breathability.
Post finishing process coordination: After blending, the performance needs to be further strengthened through "anti pilling finishing" (such as singeing, brushing, chemical anti pilling agent treatment) and "breathable finishing" (such as calendering, coating breathable treatment). For example, the singeing process can remove free short fibers on the surface of the fabric, increasing the anti pilling level by 0.5-1 level.
